Today's Sunny New Moon in Sag!

Ok, if I'm honest, I'm totally predisposed to Aries, Leo and Sag Seasons — spring, summer, the holidays!

I love these times of year when the energy runs high and we're all more social. The fire signs want to PLAY and make merry.

And after the intensity of Scorpio Season, I'm pretty sure you're nodding in agreement. A breathe of fresh new energy is coming right up!

Where emotional water sign Scorpio is intent on self-reflection and tends toward a darker outlook, Sagittarius is the adventurous explorer, excitedly looking ever outward and ... upward.

(The Archer's arrow is aimed toward the heavens; her bullseye is Truth with a capital "T".)

After the deep contemplation of Scorpio Season, we're led back to the light at the end of the tunnel and emerge into Sag Season with expanded awareness and a more positive outlook on the future.

The dog days may not be entirely over, but during Sag Season, we're reminded of a Truth that Mama Nature reveals to us each and every day: It's always darkest before the dawn.

Ha! Toasting with an "amen" is a total Sag move!

TODAY, we have a New Moon in Sagittarius at 2.34pm PT. This exuberant energy is sure to deliver some much-needed levity just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!

I know you're already busy traveling, grocery shopping or otherwise preparing your psyche for that particularly triggering family member (funny not funny), so ...

Here are some simple Sagittarius-inspired inquiries you can consider on the fly:

  •  Where do you need more Freedom?

Sagittarius craves the freedom to adventure through life — it's how she learns about herself and others and lands on what's universally True.

But Freedom doesn't have to mean that you're free from responsibility. Freedom is first and foremost a state of mind. In what ways is your thinking limiting any expansiveness you're craving? (Ooooh, now that's juicy.)

  • What activities do you absolutely LOVE to do?

Are you doing them enough? If not, why not? How can you do more of what brings you joy?

Alternatively, has something you once loved lost its sense of excitement? Do you continue to engage in the activity even though it's time to explore something new? If so, why?

Do you think your Truth is more important than another's? Put differently: Do you think your opinions are more enlightened or progressive or intelligent or loving than others?

Remember that Truth is subjective. What may be all kinds of right for you could be all kinds of wrong for another. Don't presume to know! And, maybe even question what you think is right for yourself!
One thing I love about the Sag archetype is that it's the Teacher of the zodiac; the wise guru atop the mountain.

But the Archer doesn't earn her position through the accumulation of mental knowledge — she teaches what she's learned through direct experience.

As my strongly Sagittarian spiritual teacher constantly reminds his students, "Don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself."

This week's AstroLogical Forecast:

The Thanksgiving holiday should be a happy affair with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in buoyant Sag.

That said, be on the lookout for dogma — be it your own or others'. Don't engage where possible. (See above self-inquiry!)

Saturday and Sunday could be a bit gloomy or emotional because the Moon comes into contact first with Lord Pluto — who likes to expose the skeletons in the closet — and then pragmatic Saturn — who looks the Truth in the eye like OG Oprah.

The remedy here is to focus on self-reflection and turn to your spiritual practice. Journaling and inquiry will be particularly useful for unwinding narratives that trip you up — especially if family or finances are taking center stage.

On Tuesday, fun-loving Mercury and Venus will be in opposition to hotheaded Mars (who's in retrograde until January); and in tense square to dreamy Neptune.

I'll be straight with you — these aren't fabulous energies. It's a good time to rest and rejuvenate; practice self-care (it's okay to say "no"); and don't make promises you can't keep, no matter how excited you feel.

Your focus this week should be on exercising your creative muscle, like writing out holiday cards, homemaking gifts or watching cheesy Christmas cartoons with the kids after the holiday commotion. (I still love Snoopy. How about you?)

Do not — I repeat, do NOT — make big purchases or commit to a new romantic relationship. This energy often indicates that there's something you can't see about the situation and/or, you're being idealistic in a way you can't detect even if you wanted to (and you probably don't).

Now, all of that said, we're under BIG Sagittarius energy! Your feelings of optimism and abundance are likely to be riding high this week. Put these happy energies to good use — or simply appreciate your good mood!
