A Holiday Circus 🐒

Hiya!

That's right, the Cosmic Trickster is now retrograde (Rx) in Capricorn, the sign of achievement and integrity. If you've already been having some Mercury Rx-like moments this last week, you know why. He'll be Rx until January 1, so be on the lookout for an interesting holiday! 😱

Mercury goes Rx about four times a year for three weeks each time, so understanding these cycles can be really helpful.

If you don't yet have my Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide, then you neeeed it! It's a short audio + PDF guide that gives you remedies and tactics for navigating his wily antics. 🐒

As the meme below suggests, Mercury is a planet that a lot of folks absolutely love to blame for various woes. And while they're not wrong, a shift of perspective can help us better work with "gloom and doom" astrology — whether it's a challenging planetary aspect or a retrograde.

In my experience, the cosmos are doing exactly NOTHING to us. If the planets are "doing" anything, it's reflecting back the prevailing energies of the day. 🪐

So to be afraid of the astrology is a bit like being afraid of a mirror or a map that shows you you're coming up on difficult terrain. Would you curse a map or are you grateful it's giving you the opportunity to have a better adventure?

I think of astrology as a road map that shows us how specific archetypes are working around us in the world and in our own lives, at any specific time. How we work with these energies is unique to every single one of us.

The good news is that the more we attune to the cosmic cycles, the better able we are to discern between the prevailing energies. Then, we can respond accordingly versus unconsciously reacting. 💪

The astrology also helps us see (via our personal horoscope) how we're going to respond to these energies, both at the micro and macro levels. It often, very accurately and mysteriously, shows us what we're going to get. Whether or not we receive or resist is entirely up to us (well, seemingly). 🕊

The point here is that YOU have a choice as to how you're going to respond to life.

💌 If Mercury brings misunderstandings, then it's an opportunity for you to reflect on where you can be clearer in your communication everyday.

🔱 If a stressful Neptune transit perpetuates an unrealistic idealism, then it's an opportunity for you to exercise caution before making decisions or coming to conclusions.

In both instances, the potential exists for unpleasant circumstances and also for growth and better understanding of yourself and others.

I have just one contemplation for you today:

🙈 What negative biases do you carry about astrology? In what ways do you use astrology to "awfulize" the future, like in the meme above? (A friend used "awfulize" today, and I thought it was fantastic!)

We all do this in some way, including me, an astrologer! I invite you to use the Mercury Rx energies to identify the true source of your worries and concerns about "bad" astrology.

👉 SIDE NOTE: In early January, I will be hosting a 45-minute webinar, "Where do I start with astrology?" This crash course is perfect for beginners! It's free, but space is limited, so click the image below to save your spot.

⚡ THE ASTROLOGICAL FORECAST

Two things stand out for this week: Mercury and Neptune. Last week, I spoke to the challenging Sun square to Neptune that persists through this weekend.

Here are a few remedies for transmuting that confusing energy:

🔱 Spend time in nature or meditation so that you can be clear about what's true for you even when outside situations are foggy.

🔱 Use your creativity. Neptune is highly romantic and fanciful. Channel this energy into your creative endeavors now so that you don't get lost in unrealistic mental fantasies.

🔱 Be of service. Neptune thrives best when it's acting with a compassionate heart on behalf of another.

Mercury is the planet that reflects back to us the quality of our thoughts, our mental processes generally and the way we communicate based on those thoughts and perceptions.

When he stationed Rx, he was making fantastic aspects to three planets (that's a lot):

💜 Venus (values and relationships)

Jupiter (truth and freedom) and

Saturn (responsibility and maturity)

The harmonious flow of energy between these four planets indicates that our values around relationship dynamics will definitely continue to be highlighted. With Saturn's presence in the mix, we'll likely be leveling up on our maturity and integrity.

This aspect especially highlights both the need for deep emotional connection, as well as the opportunity to enjoy solitude.

We may also experience some sort of good fortune with our resources now, or be given the opportunity to reconsider whether we're in alignment with our values in this arena.

I will leave you with a second inquiry: Are you being honest with yourself and others about what you need in relationship? Are you taking responsibility for getting those needs met and communicating them to others? 💎

With all my love,

E
