What's Your Heart's Secret Desire
Holy hell, I couldn't be happier to be on the other side of that gnarly Mars-Uranus energy! How are you holding up?
Thankfully, the radiant sunshine of Leo Season can guide the way if you find life's reoriented you yet again. (Ack!)
In my last email, I left you with the most significant Spiritual Keynote for the archetype of the Sun and the Lion: Creative Self-actualization.
Or, your heart's desire to be uniquely YOU by pursuing and birthing a special passion or purpose.
Leo doesn't just want to be special, it needs to be special. This energy craves being unique, as well as being recognized for that uniqueness.
Sound familiar? Gotta little bit of that in you?
Well, I know you do! Because Leo is "ruled" by the Sun, one of the Big 3 in every person's horoscope, we ALL have this energy in spades.
I'm calling the need to be Creative a "secret desire" because often, we're so conditioned to move away from our heart's calling that we become hesitant or even afraid to really hear what it's saying.
The guidance we receive from our hearts may seem like a secret fantasy rather than an obtainable reality.
Can you hear yourself in any of these desires I've heard clients and loved ones reveal?
I want to be a ...
Singer.
Author.
Mother.
Model.
Dancer (that's mine).
Homesteader.
Business Mentor.
Healer.
It doesn't matter what creative spark lies in your heart, really.
What matters is whether or not you're fanning the flame and acting as steward to that Still Small Voice (of God) that is calling you to Creatively Self-actualize.
Some will actively heed the call and pursue the Creative passion that stirs their heart. Others, like I once did, will fall prey to the destructive, self-critical fears the mind is constantly repeating like a broken-record ...
"Who do you think you are?"
"I don't have time."
"I'm not good enough."
"I'm bad."
"I'll do it when ... "
"I'm too old."
Do you have any excuses limiting beliefs like this that cause you to delay taking action on your Creativity or to ignore the calling altogether?
When I was a tween, I did a lot of dancing, including competitively. It was my heart's desire to be a dancer.
For various reasons (mostly perfectionism and insecurity), I stopped pursuing this dream. I ignored what Spirit was craving because my fear overpowered that desire. The result is that I hardly danced for 20+ years.
Fast forward to today.
With zero hesitation, I now consider myself a dancer!
I'm not a fabulous dancer, nor will I ever be a professional dancer. But you know what? I am a passionate dancer.
When music is played, I feel it throughout my entire system. I feel the sheer JOY of allowing Spirit to FINALLY express through my body.
It's not a surprise that my love of dancing resurfaced simultaneously with the steady erosion of one of my greatest fears — "I'm not important." (Yuck.)
Through my spiritual practice — which includes meditation and consistent self-inquiry (like, a lot) — I have been able to reclaim this Creative part of myself. Therapy and medicine work have been instrumental, too.
The point I'm trying to make is this:
We often have to do some amount of healing work before our Creative impulses can be expressed in a satisfying way.
And it's most often your Creative expression that brings joy and meaning to your life, thereby allowing you to access your Soul's Purpose.
That bears repeating: Expressing yourself Creatively = Joy and Meaning. Joy + Meaning = Purpose.
Creative Contemplations 101:
Do you recognize and value yourself? Or do you look to others for confirmation and validation?
When do you do this? Why do you do this? What limiting belief is active in your system? How does this effect your motivation to be Creative?
What secret desire or special wish lives in your heart?
What's it saying? Are you really listening, or are you putting your Creative needs on the back-burner? If so, why?
What small action can you take RIGHT NOW to be more Creative or to take action on behalf of a passion project?
For example, if you want to be a singer, can you download an app RIGHT NOW and start doing 10 minutes of vocal exercises every day? (That's a rhetorical question, btw.)
What I find so interesting about the Leo archetype is that it contains the remedy to so many existential problems.
The vast majority of my clients are looking for direction and purpose. So many are suffering from a lack of meaning in their lives.
The remedy is simple: Follow your heart.
Express yourself creatively, even in just the tiniest of ways. I know you got an extra 10 minutes in your day to fan the flames of Creativity!
In my next email, we'll be exploring the juicy intersection of Creative Self-actualization and your sense of Purpose, so stay tuned.
>> In the meantime ... write me back and let me know what not-so-secret Creative desire your heart's been calling you to pursue!
